In the United States, there are approximately 31 million small businesses, and half of them are run by people who work from home. That’s over 15 million small businesses that “work from home.”
Such is the case for our client in Greenwich, Connecticut, in today’s blog post. She did her work from home – as a yoga instructor who led classes out of her garage studio. She contacted us for a roofing quote because she was going to need a roof replacement.
Her old roof shingles were not in the best shape and had started to develop some issues. That’s not to mention that there was a thick coating over the back porch roof section that she was deeply concerned about.
It was put there by a roofing company that was trying to apply a “quick fix” to hopefully resolve an issue with some leaking on the old roof. Something we have learned over the years is that a “quick roof fix” usually results in long-term issues and a cost (like pricey fixes) eventually. This coating quick fix did not really hold up for the leak issue for this roof section, and it needed to be replaced as soon as possible.
For many homeowners, issues with the home (like that leak) seem to spring up out of nowhere. For our Fairfield County client, this was most certainly the case. She had already booked months’ worth of yoga classes, and any deviation from her schedule would leave her clients disappointed. And that would come at a cost – a loss of income for her. We did not want either thing to happen.
Removing old roof shingles and installing a new roof is a big project and can be noisy. This would make for a less-than-ideal yoga setting, where most clients are trying to relax.
Here at Gunner Roofing, we are always willing and ready to accommodate our customers to the best of our abilities. As a family-run roofing company, we also can relate to our clients in a multitude of ways.
We hire people who care, which is why our project manager made sure to schedule our team when our client was not holding yoga classes, eliminating any potential interruptions. To make up for lost time, we adjusted our team size for this roofing project accordingly.
As for the new roof particulars: After a thorough evaluation and presentation of a variety of options, our client decided to go with a GAF asphalt roof, with the roof color in charcoal.
GAF is one of our amazing industry leaders in the roofing business that we have the privilege of working with. Over the years, GAF has taken home multiple awards, including an “Innovation Award” for asphalt roofing shingles. GAF roof shingles are budget-friendly, but it doesn’t come at the cost of dependability or durability.
The charcoal roof was a lovely choice that really complemented the exterior of her home and fit in nicely with her neighbors’ houses.
Our client was pleased that we were able to remove all the coating over that back porch roof section, and that we were able to replace it with high-quality asphalt shingles. Her new roof, including that over the back porch, will be both visually appealing and protective for years to come.
As a popular yoga instructor, our client really needed the room around her house to accommodate for client parking. This proved to be a slight bump in the road as we prepared for the roof replacement.
During all our roofing projects, we strive to keep a clean workspace, no matter how long the time to complete it. We want to leave your home and yard in better condition than when we started. A good roofing company understands this is big deal, even an understood expectation, for most customers.
To do that, we utilize dumpsters to ensure that all the materials (old roof shingles, etc.) that need to be disposed of go to the correct place from the workspace. The yard wasn’t really equipped to accommodate dumpsters and customers at the same time as a roof replacement. Hence the issue. No matter. Gunner Roofing strongly believes that where there is a will, there’s a way. We just have to find it, and our project manager did.
Due to the limited parking on the property, our project manager coordinated with two dumpster companies to get the right-sized dumpsters that would fit appropriately without inconveniencing the homeowner, her clients, or her neighbors during the roof replacement.
Not to brag (well, not too much!), but our willingness to accommodate and go the extra mile consistently comes up in customer feedback. It is a point Gunner Roofing takes great pride in. Not every roofing contractor can say that.
When all was said and done, we were in and out of this roofing project in three days. Our client was extremely pleased with how the roof replacement came out, how quickly we were able to get the job done, how non-disruptive we were to her and her business, as well as how clean everything was when we were finished.
We appreciate her, as well as all our other customers, and as always are thankful for their business! If you need a roof replacement or just advice about common roof issues, get in touch with us. We’re ready to help.
