We’re going to stay close to home in today’s post, journeying only a few miles from our office to Old Greenwich, Connecticut, and replacing roof shingles.
Old Greenwich is known as a hidden East Coast gem. Its laid-back beach vibes mixed with big-city proximity makes it an ideal location to live. Not only are there many entertainment options, Old Greenwich offers a beautiful beach peninsula with a view of the New York City skyline.
Our client needed a roofing company and called us regarding shingle replacement. After our usual consultation, she decided to go with architectural shingles for her asphalt roof. This is an excellent choice when you’re replacing roof shingles.
As we’ve talked about in previous posts, asphalt shingles are the most popular roofing type in the United States. One of the many reasons for their popularity is that are several types of asphalt shingles.
The main reasons, though, are that asphalt shingles are affordable, durable, and stylish. They are a great option for any home, coming in all sorts of different styles and colors. This makes them a convenient choice for homeowners.
But all the options can be a little overwhelming, so we’ll discuss them a little bit today for anyone out there unsure what they’re looking for.
The three main roofing types for asphalt shingles are three-tab shingles, dimensional shingles, and designer shingles.
All asphalt shingles have a similar makeup. Three-tab shingles are affordable and can last decades, depending on environmental factors. They are made from a single layer of asphalt and are lightweight, offering a smooth look to your roof.
Dimensional shingles are the most common type of asphalt shingles. They are produced with two or more layers. They are the perfect shingle for anyone looking for a multidimensional roof.
Dimensional shingles are a great alternative to wood shake for shingle replacement. They offer great durability, but that comes at a physical cost to consider: The extra layers give your roof more weight.
Last but not least are designer shingles. These are the most expensive shingle options among roofing types. They give the same appearance as super-premium materials without the high-end cost.
Another benefit of designer shingles is that they are lower maintenance compared with their more expensive counterparts.
Regardless of the type of asphalt shingle roof you decide upon, rest assured that you’re making a great choice for your home. There really is an option for any homeowner.
The dimensional charcoal asphalt shingles (GAF Timberline HDZ shingles) our client picked out made for a fabulous new roof on this home. The eye-catching charcoal asphalt shingle is going to be slowing down cars for a look for years to come.
More important than their look, these GAF asphalt shingles’ high performance and durability are going to offer long-term protection from the elements.
We put on your home what we would put on our home. We are constantly researching the roofing market to give our clients the highest-quality roofing products available.
Overall, this new roof project was one of those where everything lined up perfectly. The only slight complication was that our client was out of town during the work.
This might be an issue for some outfits, but not this roofing company! We are used to a variety of scenarios and assign project managers based on what the project requires.
We made sure to have a thorough conversation with our client up front to determine what her communication needs were. Our project manager was able to balance not disturbing the client at inconvenient times while at the same time providing her necessary updates.
For example, when a plywood change was needed, our project manager stopped the project and waited to contact the client at the appropriate time. Once the change was approved, we added to the crew the next day to make up for lost time and ensure the project would be completed on schedule.
The shingle replacement was done in two days, and we had another happy client to add to our books.
We are so appreciative that our clients trust us with their homes for a new roof, especially when they are unable to oversee the project themselves in person.
If you’re curious on how to approach a shingle replacement project, how much it might cost, or just wonder if the Gunner roofing company is “near me enough that I should check them out,” please call us for information. We’re happy to help.
